Walking

Kaelynn has had a big week. Last Saturday she took her first unassisted steps. She took about three steps and then dropped to her knees. Since then we have been getting her to walk more and more. I can stand her in front of me and she will walk towards me and then just fall into me. Also I can set the walker just out of her reach and she will walk to it. She only goes three of four steps at a time but I imagine in a couple more days she will be walking everywhere! She also has figured out how to get to her feet without pulling up on anything. We still don't have gates up so hopefully we will do that soon! She is very interested in the steps and it scares me!

Another big thing for her was that she ate part of a banana last weekend without throwing up! That was a big step. I mashed it up really good and fed it to her and she seemed to like it. She wasn't super enthusiastic about it but she ate it. Now I need to find other foods that I can give her so we can build on this. She usually won't take anything that has any kind of texture to it.

Kaelynn has also decided that she wants to hold the bottle when I feed her. However she only does this at night when I give her the last bottle of the day. During the day she lets me hold it. At night she pushes my hand away. It is strange. She never showed any interest whatsoever in holding it before. She holds her sippy cup really well though.

Something else that I am pretty excited about is that I was having trouble getting her to sleep a couple nights this week so I laid her down awake and she actually fell asleep on her own. This is huge for me. She used to cry till she threw up so I couldn't really let her cry it out. Both nights she cried for maybe 3 minutes and fell asleep. Another night she cried a lot longer and we had to go get her. So it is progress but we still have some work to do to get her to go to sleep on her own.
