She isn't walking yet but gets closer every day. She likes to walk while holding our hands now. Her balance seems to be pretty good. She could probably walk if she wanted to but she is being cautious. She recently did climb the steps for the first time. She went from the bottom all the way to the top and was quite proud of herself. Since we don't have gates up it makes me really nervous. Surprisingly that was a couple weeks ago and she hasn't done it again. She goes to the steps all the time and pulls herself up and just stands there. I think she wants to go up but can't quite remember how she did it! We have ordered gates so hopefully they will come in soon and we can get them installed. It makes me really nervous when she goes to the steps. At the bottom of the steps is ceramic tile so if she falls she can really hurt herself. I got a rug last night to put down which should help but it still isn't as soft as I would like.
Another big miles stone this past month relates to her vocabulary. She has been saying da-da-da forever and I am still not sure she knows what it means. She just likes to say it. She started saying ma-ma-ma-ma too. I was really excited even though I don' t know if she knows what that means either. She also sometimes says hi and bye but never when you want her too. Actually on the radio this morning on the way to day care there was a song that had bye-bye in the chorus and she started saying it. It was really cute. She does have what I consider her official first word though. It is "kit-cat". She only says it when she sees Zoe or if she says it she starts looking around for the cat. It is cute because she always whispers it. She started saying it out of the blue one day. Zoe walked in and I heard a "kit-cat, kit-cat". It took a while for her to say it in front of Sean or anybody else. I think people though I was crazy but she says it a lot now.
One of her favorite things to eat are ice cubes. I put them in a little mesh bag that has a handle and she sucks on them. She loves ice. I started to do that because I thought it would feel good on her sore gums and she gets ice all the time now.
As far as real food, she is still not eating any solid food other then baby food. Well, actually she did eat some ice cream and she seems to like that! I am curious to talk to her doctor about that at our 12 month appointment. I give her pieces of whatever I am eating and she just plays with the food - she never puts any of it in her mouth. When I try to put anything in her mouth she gets mad. If I am successful she immediately spits it out. And if she does happen to swallow it she makes herself throw up. So she is just eating jar food and formula for now.
That's about all for now. Here are a few more recent pictures...

I can't believe that she's almost 1 already!
One thing that we did with both kids is counting the steps whenever we went up or down them.
You'll be surprised at how much they pick up and understand. Whenever you walk with her, talk to her too and say everything that you see.
Like "Zoe is soft" when you're petting her...
