Long Update

Sorry I have been so bad about posting lately. I have so much to write about never seem to find time to do it! I also haven’t been good about getting my pictures sorted and ready to post so no pictures today. I hope to post some soon!!

First, the news on Kaelynn. She started crawling on Memorial Day weekend. We were hoping she would wait till after the move because we didn’t want to have to do much baby proofing at the old house. It worked out OK though because she is just now starting to realize the possibilities. Before she would crawl to a toy that was a couple feet away. Now she is realizing she can crawl to the next room! So we have to really keep an eye on her. Plus she is also starting to pull herself up to a standing position. The is leading to lots of accidents. She doesn’t have the best balance and falls over a lot. It is so neat watching her reach these new milestones, but it also makes it harder to watch her!

She is also as attached as ever to her mommy. It makes it hard to get much done because she wants to be held by me constantly. She goes to Sean OK but anybody else is just not acceptable. Once someone has been around a couple days she starts to warm up to them. Apparently she gets jealous too. I went to pick her up at day care yesterday and another baby ran to me with her arms open. I was surprised because this little girl usually cries when there is a stranger in the room. I picked her up and Kaelynn was not too happy with me. I sat on the floor and pulled Kaelynn into my lap so I was holding them both and that apparently wasn’t acceptable either. She doesn’t want to share her mommy! She is apparently the same way with her favorite teacher at day care. She gets jealous when she has another baby. I have walked in a few times to see Kaelynn crying because Amber was holding another baby.

A couple other funny stories about Kaelynn (this will be a long post). We are having some trouble getting her to go to sleep at night. One night she was still up at 11 (on a work night) so Sean decided we needed to put her in bed and let her cry it out. We let her cry 10 minutes and I went in to check on her. She laid her head on my shoulder and almost fell asleep. I laid her back down and she cried even harder. We gave her 10 more minutes and Sean went to check on her and calm her down. I heard a call for help when Sean got to the room. Apparently when he picked her up she had gotten so worked up that she threw up on him. I was trying to clean it up when she did it again and again. She emptied the entire contents of her stomach. It was everywhere! Sean ended up taking a shower and I gave Kaelynn a bath. Then I fed her again (I knew she would never make it through the night on an empty stomach) and luckily she fell asleep. It was midnight by that point so I was really tired at work the next day! We haven’t let her “cry it out” since then but we are thinking about trying it again. She really needs to learn to fall asleep on her own. Some nights it takes me 2 hours to get her to bed!

One day recently she had a bad poppy diaper. I went to change her and it leaked out the back of her diaper a little bit. So I took her clothes off and was trying to get her diaper off without making too much of a mess when she decided she needed to roll over. That is one of her new things – rolling on the changing table. I wasn’t able to stop her and she ended up covered in poop – pretty much from head to foot. Needless to say she got another bath after that episode.

In other news, we moved to our new house!!! I didn’t know how we would get everything done but somehow it all came together. A bunch of Sean’s family and a bunch of his co-workers came to help us move. Sean’s parents were also in town to help and watch Kaelynn so I could work. We closed on the house on Friday afternoon and started moving kitchen stuff that night. On Sat we got truck and moved the rest. Surprisingly by mid afternoon everything was moved. We have been there for almost two weeks now and the unpacking is going slowly but we are making progress.

One funny story about the move is that they only gave us one key at closing. We were supposed to get three garage door openers. The realtor thought they were at the house but they weren’t. I had left the key on the counter and took Kaelynn and Sean’s mom back to the old house so we could put her to bed. Sean left and thought I had the key so he locked the doors. Just in case I didn’t though he did unlock the side door to the garage. When I got back to the house I was locked out and I called Sean a little annoyed. He told me the garage door was open so I tried it and it was locked. So we had to call a locksmith. Luckily he got there fairly quickly and got us in (it is scary how easily they can open a deadbolt!). Come to find out the door to the garage has a broken handle. You can only open it from the inside. So it wasn’t Sean’s fault after all! We had the locksmith come back out on Monday to replace all of our locks and somebody brought us the garage door openers a few days later so hopefully we won’t lock ourselves out anymore! We still need to get the handle fixed on the garage door though. It is on our rather lengthy to do list!

Well there is lots more to write about but no time. I will try to be a little better about posting. Next week we are going on vacation to Hot Springs, Arkansas with my entire family. I am really looking forward to it but I am scared about the drive. Almost 10 hours in the car will not be fun for a 9 month old! I will try to get some pictures up soon!!
