House Update

Some of you that are "Friends" on Facebook saw in my status last week that Sean and I were thinking about buying a house. Well here is the story. When we bought our current house we knew we would probably want to upgrade someday. We bought a lot that is close to two acres a couple years ago and had hoped to some day build on the lot. Well recently we have been talking about moving. We don't think we can afford to build on the lot - at least not build what we really want. We like our current house and want something that is just a little bit bigger. We need more storage - bigger kitchen, bigger closets, etc. Since the arrival of Kaelynn we are really noticing the lack of storage in this house! So I decided to go to an open house just to see what was out there. I went to see a ranch that is in Fox Creek, which is on the southwest side of town. The house had just about everything we wanted in a house. It was in our price range and they were offering 30 year financing for 4.5%. Plus, the bank would consider buying our current house. We were so excited and decided we wanted that house. We had them come look at our house to see what they would offer us. They made us an offer that wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite what we wanted either. After thinking about things for a few days we decided that things just happened too fast and we weren't ready to make an offer. Unfortunately the house sold so we missed out chance. It might be a blessing in disguise though. Maybe it wasn't time for us to move. We have a very reasonable house payment now. We are going to look a little more though to see if there is anything else out there. If we decide to stay we are going to try to get our basement finished soon. They will help out a lot with our storage problems. We also need to get rid of some things!

When we moved into our house the basement was just concrete! It was scary we were in the same boat with a 6 month old baby and lots of stuff. We finished our basement and that added so much room. There is a bathroom, bedroom, toy room, and storage room downstairs now. It took about 5 months but my husband did alot of the work himself while going to dental school. Good Luck...if you have any questions feel free to ask.

While this is a perfect climate to buy a house (provided you are able to sell yours), I think it was a blessing in disguise. I imagine you have quite enough going on in your life right now without packing and moving.

I highly suggest building shelves in the basement. I can help.
