Week One

I can't believe it has already been a week - well almost. Week one has gone fairly well. Breastfeeding has been a little difficult but Kaelynn and I are starting to figure things out. We went to the doctor on Thursday and Kaelynn was down to 6 pounds 8 ounces. We go back again on Tuesday to check her weight. She should be gaining now though because since my milk came in she has been eating much better. Now sleep is a different story. She feeds about every 2 hours so I can never sleep for very long. She does take longer naps during the day for some reason. Last night was probably our worst - I might have gotten 2 or 3 hours of sleep. I just couldn't get her to stay asleep! Hopefully we will get her on some kind of schedule soon so we can sleep. Sean is going back to work tomorrow so I will probably try to take care of her at night. There isn't that much that Sean can do anyway since she is always wanting to eat. It is helpful to have him change a diaper on occasion though or to just hold her.

I think it was our second night home she had her first big blowout. She leaked out of her diaper and all over her gown and her blanket. Trying to change her clothes we managed to get it in her hair. She was quite a mess! We cleaned her up as best we could and gave her a bath the next morning. The funniest thing was after the bath, we didn't even have her dressed yet and she pooped again. When we went to change her, she just kept going and going. We went through three diapers without getting one on her. At least I know her bowels are working OK!! That's all for now. It is hard to find time to post, but I will try to get some more pictures out here soon!

Ahhhh... The never ending Poo. Fun stuff! LOL!!

Once she is a little bigger, you should try nursing in bed or laying on the couch. You should get some good sleeping in that way.

Oh the memories...Lucas was quite the pooper, also! Just wait til it goes through the sheets on the bed and you are changing out the bedding at 2AM, giving a baby a sponge bath to get the poop off, and trying to find a clean pair of pjs.
