8 Weeks

Anabella will be 8 weeks old tomorrow!  She is doing great!  She doesn't go back to the doctor till Sept 1st so I don't know what she weighs but she is definitely growing.  I am curious to see how much she has gained.  The biggest recent development is that she has been sleeping though the night!  Woohoo!!  Kaelynn didn't do that till she was 8 or 9 months and then it was only on occasion!  Anabella has done it 3 nights in a row but I am sure I will be up with her again.  She seems to get into a routine for a few days and change it so we will have to see if this continues.  She gets up somewhere around 5 am which is a little earlier than I would like but I will take it.  She was getting up around that time anyway even when she got up at night so at least I am getting to sleep.  Well sort of - I try to get up and pump during the night so I don't get too uncomfortable.  I also want to build up some extra milk supply.  So I still have to get up but it is an improvement.

I am still breastfeeding but it isn't going too good.  I started giving Anabella some milk in a bottle in the evening because it seems like I just don't have enough milk.  I started doing it once a night.  But now it seems like she wants a bottle every feeding.  I just don't think I am keeping up with her demand.  We will probably have to start giving her formula before too long.  I had this problem with Kaelynn but it wasn't till I went back to work.  It is frustrating!  I wish I could continue to breastfeed for a while longer but I probably won't be able too.  I will try to keep going as long as I can though. 

We were happy to see Anabella take the bottle so well though.  Kaelynn wanted nothing to do with it till she had to when she was at daycare.  Anabella takes it really well.  That means that I can actually leave her decent chunks of time.  Sean and I went to see Harry Potter a week or so ago while my mom watched the girls and it was great. 

Anabella has also started to smile.  I love it!!!  You get these blank stares for so long when and is so rewarding to see them start smiling at you.  I can't get enough.  I haven't had good luck capturing them on camera though.  Here is the only pic I have of a smile.

Anabella still sleeps a ton.  I am amazed at how much she sleeps.  But when she is awake she is starting to be interested in her toys.  Mr Bear is her favorite.  It sits over her and she kicks a ball with her feet that makes it play songs and his nose lights up.  She just stares at him for the longest time.

Anabella has also starting having a fussy periods at night.  It isn't every night but some nights she will cry and we can't seem to do anything to settle her down.  Running the vacuum helps but that only works on occasion.  It usually doesn't last more then a half hour though so it isn't horrible.  I hate feeling so helpless though when she is crying and I can't do anything about it.
