Kaelynn was three weeks old on Monday. It is hard to believe. She is doing really well. We went to the doctor last Thursday and she was up to 8 pounds 5 ounces. Her doctor seemed amazed at her weight gain. I explained that she thinks she needs to be eating whenever she is awake. I asked what I should do about that because she isn't interested in a pacifier or even sucking on her fingers. He said to give her maybe another week and then try to start cutting her back some. I am trying to make her wait at least 2 hours between feedings and it is hard. When she gets tired and fussy, nursing her is the easiest way to calm her down and get her to go to sleep. It is funny because some days she sleeps great and naps quite a bit. Then there are days like yesterday when she refused to take a nap. Every time she fell asleep in my arms I would lay her down and she would wake up. She ended up being very fussy last night. It was probably the worst she has been yet. It was impossible to calm her down. Thankfully after about the 5th or 6th time of trying to put her to sleep she stayed asleep and had a decent night (I was only up 3 or 4 times with her). That was unlike Sunday night when she got up and 1 am and decided she didn't want to go back to bed. I was pretty much up all night with her. I can't wait till I get to the point that she will only get up once or twice through the night. We have had a couple of times that she went a 4 hours stretch during the night which was wonderful. I can't believe I haven't slept more then 4 hours at a time in three weeks. It is even more amazing that I can feel rested on 4 hours!
In the last week we had a couple of outings. She has been to the doctor three times since we got out of the hospital. We also went to my friend Kari's for a photo shoot. We got some really good pictures. Thanks Kari!! We also went shopping at Mejier one night. She was good and slept the entire time. My little brother and his girlfriend came to spent the weekend with us. My goal while they were here was to go out to eat and drink a margarita. They told us in our breastfeeding class that it was OK to have one drink and still nurse so I had been looking forward to having that one drink. So on Saturday afternoon after I fed Kaelynn and she fell asleep we packed her up and went to Chevy's. The food was great and the margarita was wonderful! I can't believe I hadn't had a drink since last year! Kaelynn slept the entire time so that was great. I was worried she would wake up and want to eat. I really didn't want to feed her in public. I am hoping to start to pump soon so we can give her bottles on occasion. Then I will be able to go somewhere without her and it will be easier for us to take her out. Plus Sean will be able to feed her on occasion which will give me a break at night sometimes!
Here are some recent pictures...

Chloe was really patient. The cats normally don't like it when she starts crying. I guess Kaelynn didn't like Chloe too much though!

Uncle Kevin and Kaelynn were napping - at least Kaelynn was. Notice she is wearing her Cubs outfit. Apparently it didn't work because the Cubs still lost!

This shows how much hair she has...
