Anabella 2 Weeks

Anabella is actually three weeks old today!  I can't believe how fast it goes!  We went to the doctor last week for her two week checkup and she is doing great.  Everybody was amazed at how much weight she had gained.  She weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces (90th percentile) and was 21 and a quarter inches long (75th percentile).  Her head was 14.25 inches (90th percentile).  The reason they were so amazed with her weight was because she lost so much at the beginning.  Neither Sean nor I can remember what she weighed the day we left the hospital but the doctors and nurses were all concerned about the weight loss.  I think they don't like to see a baby lose more then 10% of their weight and I thought I might have heard a nurse say she lost 12%.  Either way they had us go to the doctor the day after we were released from the hospital to check her weight.  So that was on Friday (July 1st) and she weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces that day.  My milk had come in the day before so she had already started to gain so they said everything was fine.  The got us all worried for nothing.  The exact same thing happened with Kaelynn.  She lost more weight then normal at the hospital and gained it all back and more very quickly once my milk came in.  So Anabella gained more then a pound in about 10 days.

I am not surprised because she is nursing great.  She pretty much wants to eat all the time while she is awake.  Then she will go to sleep for super long stretches and I have to wake her up to eat.  She has no schedule yet.  Some days she sleeps all day and some days she is awake for decent stretches.  Night times have been a little rough.  Anabella is really good and doesn't cry but she is hard to get back to bed after she eats during the night (due to sleeping so much during the day).  It is not unusual for me to be up with her for 2 hours and I might get up 2 or 3 times a night.  Then there was the one night she was up till 3:30 in the morning.  It has been hard because when she is awake at night she will nurse a little and dose off.  Then I try to put her down and she decides she needs to eat more.  So I can't really get anybody else to help me.  I am the only one that can feed her at this point!  Although we will be introducing the bottle soon so Sean can feed her.  So Sean hasn't had to get up much at night except for a couple times when I was desperate and couldn't function any more!

Kaelynn absolutely loves her little sister.  She wants to hold her and kiss her all the time.  It is really cute.  However she isn't crazy about all the time I spend with her.  She has been quite challenging!  And since she doesn't take a nap I don't get a break during the day.  So needless to say I am pretty exhausted but I am still loving this time with my girls!!

When Anabella was born my mom said she looked just like Kaelynn.  Well, Sean and I really didn't remember.  So we looked at some of Kaelynn's newborn pictures and my mom was right.  I will try to post some pics of the two of them soon.  It is amazing.  My mom says they are twins separated by three years!!

Here are some pictures from Anabella's first three weeks...
