It was wonderful to come home from vacation to Kaelynn. I really did miss her while I was gone. Eight days was probably a bit too long. Kaelynn had a great time wiht her grandparents and her new best friend - Sassy. Sassy is their dog and her and Kaelynn apparently did everything together. Kaelynn tries to play with Zoe but I don't think she is very cooperative!
Tuesday was Kaelynn's first day back at daycare. On Wed afternoon I got a call that Kaelynn had a fever. It was only 99.9 so I didn't have to go get her. If it is over 100 then she has to leave and be fever free for 24 hours before returning. I was busy at work so I left her there. At 4 when I was getting ready to go get her they called again and her fever was 100.3. So that meant that she had to stay home on Thursday. I had planned ot work but I was able re-arrange my schedule. I called the doctor and they didn't seem too concerned. I know it wasn't a high fever but I don't think Kaelynn has ever had a fever that wasn't an ear infection. She gets colds all the time but she doesn't have a fever unless there is an ear infection. All day Thursday she was about the same. Fever stayed right around 100. She also had an upset stomach and just wasn't acting right. Sean stayed home with her today so I could get some work done. I got home around 3 and she didn't look good. Her temp was 100.9. Still not very high but I called the doctor again and they decided to take a look at her.
Turns out she did have an ear infection. A bad ear infection. The doctor was going to give me the prescription for an antibiotic and send us on our way. I asked if it was possible that she had the flu. He looked at her and thought about it and said it was possible. After discussing it some more he decided to go ahead and do a nasal swab since Kaelynn would qualify for the tamaflu if she has it. Turns out she tested positive! I am glad I asked him about it! So the poor thing has the flu and an ear infection! The tamaflu is really supposed to help though so hopefully she gets over this soon. Of course she will need to keep it down for it to work. She threw up her first dose so we will try again tomorrow. I am sure I will get it because I get everything from her. So it will be an interesting few days.
I am not sure where she got the flu but it is interesting that she was only at daycare one day before she got sick. None of the kids in her room has had the flu yet. Her grandparents kept her home all week last week so I don't think she was exposed to anything then. We never left the house on Sunday or Monday so she didn't get it then. Everybody says the first year or so can be bad when kids go to day care but they build a lot of immunities and are healthy later on. I hope that's the case because Kaelynn has been sick an awful lot this past year!! Definitely one of the downsides to sending kids to day care!

I have no idea where I picked up the flu when I had it. I had a wake and a funeral with family the Thursday & Friday beforehand and church on Sunday.
Have you talked about tubes yet for Kaelynn? They were a godsend for Christian.
